Today I received this (today, of course!!) - and thought about how important it is to support and encourage the gift of curiosity in our children and grandchildren:
"The more we know about the world around us, the better equipped we are to safely navigate its many rigors. Most people educate themselves about their individual cultures and concerns, only to discover later that the limitations of their knowledge prevent them from easily fulfilling their goals. To be successful in life, we must reach beyond our own experiences into the vast sea of wisdom that lies beyond. By doing this, we ensure that we are never at a loss to relate to the people around us, even when these individuals hail from very different backgrounds. Our unflappable curiosity becomes a wonderful asset to us in our quest to learn as much as possible about the world and our unique place in it."
